POSITION TYPE

Permanent.
Part-time during off-season (Sept – Mar). Daytime shifts.
Full-time in-season (April – August). Daytime shifts.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

As a flex role, this position will require the candidate to work as Plant Care Team Member some days, and as a Cashier on other days. This role will allow the candidate to develop a number of different skillsets, apply their creative problem-solving in a variety of ways, and give them lots of opportunities to take ownership over certain day-to-day operational tasks. This role has potential to evolve over time as the company grows.

Plant Care Team Responsibilities

Provide quality and consistent care for the plants in the greenhouse and/or the treelot.
Assist customers with plant or product inquiries, as well as shopping needs to ensure a positive and professional experience with the Anything Grows brand.
Tidy the greenhouse space and ensure garden center standards for cleanliness, organization and professionalism are met at all times.
Ensure products and plants are stocked appropriately and looking-good!
Unpack, price and put out new plant and product shipments.
Maintain a positive work ethic and “team-player” attitude, valuing opportunities to get creative, problem-solve, and learn new skills.

Cashier Responsibilities

Greet and assist customers who visit or call the store, representing our friendly and professional team as the first-point-of-contact.
Process all purchases, refunds and exchanges efficiently and accurately to ensure a positive check-out experience. We’re counting on you!
Ensure store standards for cleanliness, organization and professionalism are met at all times.
Ensure products at the front of the store are stocked appropriately and looking-good!
Maintain a positive work ethic and “team-player” attitude, valuing opportunities to get creative, problem-solve, and learn new skills.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

Physically able (some heavy lifting required)
Plant-oriented or nature-appreciative
Detail-oriented and good with numbers
Cash-handling experience (or similar)
Experience ‘wearing multiple hats’ or working in a versatile environment
Independent transportation to work
Bonus Points for:
- Horticultural or gardening experience
- Customer service or retail experience
